English Language Learners Paraprofessional

Location: Lakeshore Public Schools, Stevensville, MI 49127

Hours: Up to 32.5 Hours Per Week

Preferred Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required
Fluency in English and proficiency in another language is preferred.
Experience working with ELL students in an educational setting is desirable.
Knowledge of instructional strategies and resources for teaching English language learners.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse students, families, and staff members.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting the academic and social-emotional growth of ELL students.

Responsibilities:

Assist ELL students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts introduced by the teacher.
Provide language support to ELL students during instruction, ensuring comprehension and participation in classroom activities.
Help create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes cultural understanding and acceptance.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and ELL specialists to develop and implement appropriate instructional strategies and materials.
Monitor and track the progress of ELL students, documenting their achievements and challenges.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to support the needs of ELL learners.
Assist in the assessment of ELL students' language proficiency and academic progress.
