Literacy Implementation Specialist/Coach
Roosevelt and Hollywood Elementary

Qualifications:

Current Michigan Teaching Certification
Advanced degree from an accredited college/university
Ten or more years teaching experience
Deep knowledge of reading, writing, and literacy development under Michigan Standards, preferably with Wonders curriculum experience
Experience in research based instructional practices
Trained in Orton Gillingham and LETRS
Experience with benchmarking and progress monitoring measures
Ability to react to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned
Experience conducting effective professional development
Interpersonal skills to create positive relationships with teachers and administrators.
Ability to communicate and demonstrate researched-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance
Previous coaching or teacher leadership experience
Familiar with RTI, MTSS and tiered instruction
Well developed organization and time management skills
Sufficient knowledge of scientifically based reading research, expertise in quality reading instruction, and infusing reading strategies into content and instruction

Professional Duties and Responsibilities:

Engage individual or adult teams in learning and build collaborative relationships
Conduct collaborative team meetings for the purpose of data driven decision making and goal setting
Communicate and collaborate with team members to build an environment with a common instructional focus, where initiatives are supported and expectations are conveyed.
Be supported by and collaborate with the organization, administrators, and members of leadership teams
Engage in their own ongoing professional learning
Be open to giving and receiving feedback for refining their coaching skills
Provide feedback for growth (not for formal evaluation of an individual)
Facilitate the intellectual and professional development of teachers with a focus on improving student achievement
Provide individualized, classroom-based coaching to support participants in implementing effective research based instructional practices
Communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing
Consult frequently with classroom teachers on matters relating to instruction
Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers
Design interventions and instructional routines
Support teachers in administering universal screeners, diagnostic assessments and progress monitoring and analyzing student performance
Manage time and schedule flexibility to maximize teacher schedules and learning
Work collaboratively and collegially with other instructional coaches and the curriculum director
Ensures fidelity of implementation of the site based ELA curriculum and LIT model via monitoring and observation as well as training
Performs other duties as assigned by principal and district-level administration
