Qualifications:

Required:

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with Highly Qualified Endorsement in English (BA) or Language Arts (BX)
Passionate
Student centered
High level communication skills
Motivated to achieve success with all students
Proficient in the use of technology
Understand the diversity of student learning styles and the need for differentiated learning
Ability to develop learning activities that challenge students and apply various levels of depth of knowledge
Collaborative member of Professional Learning Communities
Commitment to High School Philosophy and Program
Support the concept of Every Child Every Day
Desire to be held accountable for student academic growth and academic results
Prepare students to succeed in M-STEP, PSAT 8/9 and SAT ELA assessments

Preferred:

Successful high school teaching or student teaching experience in Secondary English- general education and/or Advanced Placement classes
A Masters in English or equivalent course work that certifies the teacher to provide direct credit through local community colleges
